My understanding of what i originally thought was stealing things from other artists wasn't okay, has evolved and now i understand that stealing things is okay. At the beginning of the unit i thought that stealing ideas from another artist was not right, but through the unit my opinion has changed. I thought that if you didn't come up with the idea it's copying, but I learned that nothing is complety original and things are just being copied but changed into there own way. Watching videos and learning about different artists who have stolen ideas and made them there own has showed me that it's not stealing. My first project that i stole from was the character remix, i used Ariel and a hipster girl to for hipster Ariel, i combined two of my favorite things. This ties into the unit because i stole multiple pictures to create my own drawing. With the colored pencils i tried to get a waxy look by burnishing the colored pencils by layering the color on top of each other, for the eyes i layered different color blues to get a blue that had a nice tint.
For my final art of steal project I used the subject of art and science. The making of the ice and melting was science related and the colors and placement of the cubes were art. My partner and I made ice chalk that sizzled, we made a stop motion video of it melting. On Pinterest I looked for some ideas that led me too think about making paint ice cubes, but I figured it would be cool if it was chalk. I ended up stealing other peoples idea to make them my own.
